ON

VEDIC FOUNDATIONS OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCE

THE BACKGROUND

According to economic historian Angus Maddison in his book ‘The World Economy: A Millennial Perspective’ published by the OECD Development Center in Paris in 2001, India had the world’s largest economy in the 1st century and 11th century and in the 18th century, with a 32.9% share of the world GDP in the 1st century and 28.9 % in the 1000 AD, and in 1700 AD with 24.4%

The known economic history of India begins with Indus Valley Civilization that was the first known permanent and predominantly urban settlement that flourished between 2800BC to 1800 BC and had an advanced and thriving economic system.

One of the ways to search the alternative paradigms in management and leadership is going back to our roots – ancient Indian culture and traditions. Vedas are the sources of knowledge from Indian Wisdom. The Vedic principles are objective and supported by creative potential of Natural Law. It has universal application. The Vedic Foundations of Indian Management envisages enabling the managers to create new order of conscience based management based on Vedic insights.

Vedic Foundations of Indian Management proposes a system supporting the modern economic system by delving into the cultural intelligence of the ancient Indian wisdom tradition in an effort to seek an alternate paradigm in management science. Since the Ancient Vedic texts preserves the treasures of knowledge within, VFIM draws out the science and technology invested in the Vedic texts.

With a vision to promote indigenous models of management based on four main Vedas, thisCenter carries out prolific researches and organizes national and international conferences onVedic foundations of Indian management and the relevance of Vedic texts in modernmanagement. It also seeks to promote awareness about the wisdom of ancient scriptures anddiscuss ancient business model in various concepts based on Vedic Literature and VedicManagement leading to the great enhancement of modern management and entrepreneurship.

RELEASE OF VOLUMES

Eighteen Volumes on “Vedic Foundations of Management Science” will be published and released in the inauguration ceremony of World Congress on Vedic Foundations of Management Science on September 11, 2018 at Fullerton Hall, The Art Institute of Chicago celebrating 125 years of Swami Vivekananda’s famous Chicago lecture:

NEED FOR THE VOLUMES

Transcendence Through The Vedas- Besides the spiritual value, the Vedas are a source of boundless knowledge from several aspects of human sustainability and development. The Compendium on Vedic Foundations of Management Science will bring a new dimension of progress in the corporate society and entrepreneurship through the integration of the Vedic insights with the current trends of managerial practices. Aside from the unremitting flow of knowledge, the Vedas comprise of powerful and magnetic mantras, the chanting of which have proven to systematically lead to a state of complete positive energy and spiritual awakening. The scientific basis of every facet of the Vedas is staggering and the scope of establishment of an optimistic work environment through the implementation of the same is tremendous.

OBJECTIVE OF THE COMPENDIUM

The Compendium on Vedic Foundations of Management Science will systematically explore various ancient knowledge systems and integrate it with modern needs of corporate, society and individual for inclusive growth rooted in value based social engagement. The various volumes is a humble effort to integrate Indian Culture and Philosophy, Ancient Archaeology and Cultural History, Sanskrit and Sustainability with the modern management and it will be of immense value to the scholars and practioners in modern management across the globe.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The book is mainly intended to support various business sectors and an academic audience (academics, university teachers, researchers, officials, and post-graduate students – both Master and Doctorate levels). In addition, this book will be beneficial for public and private universities, researchers, education managers, Professionals, Business and education sectors.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

Researchers, academicians and practitioners are invited to submit on or before April 1, 2017 a 2-3 page chapter proposal clearly outlining the central concerns of their proposed chapter and, in particular, the methodological approaches, the academic and applied contribution of the work in question. Please do mention the respective volume in your proposal.

Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by May 15, 2017 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by November 15, 2017. All submitted chapters will be subjected to double-blind review process.

Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.
